We’re hosting the 2016 HaTCHathon to help tackle Australia’s healthcare challenges

We know that many of our students are game-changing designers, marketing gurus, techy problem-solvers or simply passionate about making a difference to the future of healthcare in Australia. So we’re bringing you this exciting opportunity to help flex those innovation muscles…

We’re hosting the next HaTCHathonTM event at our Billy Blue College of Design campus in Ultimo, Sydney between Friday 9 September and Sunday 11 September 2016. And we want our students to be part of this past-paced and innovative competition weekend!

What is it?

The HaTCHathon brings together start-ups, entrepreneurs and healthtech experts and students to use their skills, creativity and well, general awesomeness, to help solve some of the toughest challenges that Australia faces in healthcare today.

Approximately 50 participants will work alongside Johnson & Johnson1 mentors and the Disruptor’s Handbook to explore breakthrough solutions that will benefit both patients and a flailing healthcare system.

The prize

$8000 first prize (in total) for the winning team.
$1000 second prize (in total) for the runner up team

The judges

It’s a celebrity-like lineup of names from the Australian health industry:

  • Dr. Linda Swan, Chief Medical Officer at Medibank Private
  • Dr. Paul Nikolarakis, CEO of Lorica Health
  • Gavin Fox-Smith, MD of JJM

What’s the challenge?

They’ll be releasing a series of problem statements approximately one week before the event. So, you’ll have some time to start thinking about how best you might tackle some of these issues.

Your $10 ticket includes coffee, snacks, some meals (brain food yeah!), lounges to nap and recharge in, creative pod spaces, networking on Friday evening and plenty of opportunities to ask our staff questions!

Just want to watch? You can register as an observer too.

Get those innovation thinking caps on and register to attend.
