What is a Bachelor of Business?

A Bachelor of Business gives you an understanding of core business strategies for any industry. Explore your passions with our wide range of electives. At Torrens University, you’ll learn to build strategic plans for real business settings. Put your skills into practice with work experience.
During this course, you will choose from a broad range of electives in Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, Tourism and Hospitality so you can focus on the area you’re passionate about. Additionally, you will complete the compulsory Industry Consulting Project subject, which provides first-hand experience in a business environment and develops practical skills to complement your theoretical knowledge. We will support you in your responsibility to find an industry placement(s), so you graduate with invaluable work experience, a built-in professional network and a serious competitive advantage.

Subjects and units

This course comprises 24 subjects, 15 core subjects and 9 elective subjects. As part of the core subjects, you will gain 300 hours of real-world industry experience.

Each subject involves 10 hours of study per week, comprising 3 hours of facilitated study and 7 hours self-directed study.

An important element of this course is your placement with an endorsed host organisation(s). Work placements provide a valuable resource for you to develop hands-on practical experience to ensure you graduate confident and job-ready. A key task will be the completion of a reflective journal covering the experience and the identification and analysis of key learning outcomes.

Admission criteria

Before you begin your application to study as a domestic student, check that you meet at least one of the requirements listed below.

Year 12 (Australian secondary school certificate) or equivalent

OR

Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4 or above), or Successful completion of a Higher Education qualification.

Work and life experience that demonstrates skills and knowledge gained through paid or unpaid employment, formal learning and/or non-formal learning (presented on a current resume with attached cover letter).

Course fees can be paid across three study periods. Each instalment to be paid before the beginning of the academic stage census date.
