What is a Bachelor of Health Science in Aesthetics?

A Bachelor of Health Science (Aesthetics) equips you with a diverse range of clinical knowledge and skills, focusing on preventative skin health and anti-ageing dermal therapies. This in-depth aesthetic course covers advanced skin health protocols and the most up-to-date techniques, therapies, technology and products.
Supported by a foundation of health science, biology knowledge and communication skills, this degree develops your understanding of a range of aesthetic principles, technologies and innovations, and teaches you to incorporate them into professional practice. The practical elements of this course will take place in our collaborative student-led clinic on the Brisbane campus, offering clients a range of treatments so you can confidently begin work in the dermal therapy industry.

Subjects and units

Delivered both on campus and online, this course comprises of 11 core subjects, 9 specialisation subjects and 4 elective subjects, requiring 10 hours of study per week; three hours facilitated and seven self-directed. Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.

Industry partners and Work‑Integrated Learning

Work placements and Work-Integrated Learning programs provide a valuable resource for you to develop hands-on practical experience to ensure you graduate confident and job-ready.

Work-Integrated Learning hours

You’ll be able to gain 65 hours clinical experience at an external organisation of your choice, and you'll also undertake 215 hours of Work-Integrated Learning at our student-led clinic The Practice Wellbeing Centre.

You can source Work-Integrated Learning opportunities, including placements, through our Careers Connect database, all vetted for quality and relevance by Torrens University’s Learning Facilitators.

Admission criteria

Before you begin your application to study as a domestic student, check that you meet the requirements listed below.

Year 12 (Australian secondary school certificate) or equivalent

OR

Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above or above, or equivalent, from a registered training organisation (RTO)

OR

Successful completion of at least 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5, 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6 or above, or equivalent 

The below is an alternative option
Work and life experience with successful completion of Year 10 or equivalent.

AND

A minimum of three years of full-time relevant, cognitive work experience (demonstrated by a resume.)

Course fees can be paid across three study periods. Each instalment to be paid before the beginning of the academic stage census date.
