About Billy Blue College of Design
Back in 1987 (before Photoshop existed) Sydney design agency Billy Blue Creative was looking for some fresh creative blood to work on their clients’ projects, so they took the only logical step: to open a design school.
What started as a magazine, blossomed into a design agency, then a school, created by designers for designers. Today Billy Blue College of Design is renowned for its pioneering spirit and high employability rate across a variety of design disciplines, including branded fashion, communication design, digital media design and interior design. Courses are developed by some of the industry’s best designers and lecturers who work in leading agencies.
With internships and work integrated learning programs involving live briefs, students get the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s most creative design firms.
At Billy Blue you get specialist design courses by designers for designers. Industry experts teach and mentor students, showing them the ropes with industry-relevant skills and super handy career advice. Billy Blue enjoys a strong connection to the design industry, with opportunities to develop as a professional, work in class on real world projects and grow your own network of industry contacts and clients before you graduate.
Announcing new courses
We know design never sleeps and therefore Billy Blue College of Design and Torrens University Australia are launching new courses in 2016 based on feedback from experts and our alumni in the design industry. These include:
Diploma of Design
If you have a flair for creativity but can’t decide between graphic design, digital design, video production, interior design, or fashion, this course gives you the ability to “pick and mix” to taste your design career options. It also provides full credit as a pathway into the more advanced courses so you can use the diploma to finish your degree quickly. Enquire here about this course.
Double Degree: Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Design
If only we had a dollar for every time an agency owner or managing director said, “I’d love a design graduate that could also understand business”. The merging of the creative industries with business is driving huge demand for graduates with creative thinking and skills along with business nous. For those of you who are dreaming of running your own design agency someday – or running someone else’s – this double degree will give you the perfect head start. Enquire here about this course.
Graduate Certificate in User Experience and Web Design

Whether you are a qualified designer feeling the need to upgrade your skills, or just want to become more digitally savvy, this course is designed to expand your understanding of the design principles and user experience testing associated with website design and development. Unlike short courses that aren’t accredited, this accelerated Graduate Certificate is eligible for FEE-HELP, and can be completed in as little as one 12-week trimester. Master of Design
The Master of Design is an accelerated post-professional program for experienced designers wanting to apply their skills to strategic and leadership roles.
