Admissions criteria
When applying for a course at Torrens University, you should be aware of our admissions requirements. This includes minimum entry scores and English language requirements. Check admissions requirementsMost of our courses are available online. International students must not enrol in more than one-third (33%) of online subjects over their course and must study at least one face-to-face subject each trimester. All face-to-face courses are also available online.
Please note: due to COVID-19 pandemic, authorities have provided exceptions to the usual face-to-face learning requirements.

Studying pathways
At Torrens University, we offer more than one way to study with us. If you don’t meet the entry requirements for direct admission into our courses, you can apply for a pathway program. For example, successful completion of a diploma may lead to entry into a bachelor degree. We also recognise learning and credit transfers from previous study. Many international students choose an English course pathway option at Torrens University Language Centre (TULC). This option is ideal for students who want to develop the English language skills and study techniques necessary for success at university.View Study options

English language support
Torrens University Language Centre (TULC) provides English courses for students who travel to Australia from all over the world, as well as those studying offshore online. For English language students, TULC provides a pathway towards an Australian university degree. After you complete English for Academic Purposes at TULC, you can progress to a higher education course at Torrens University. TULC courses are available online, as well as at our Sydney, Leura (Blue Mountains), Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide campuses.English for Academic Purposes requirements
Some courses may require a higher overall score and/or sub-score(s) for entry. These will be specified in the entry requirements of the course. Students will generally need to have achieved one of the following for entry into their chosen course:- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6 with 5.5 in all areas
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 60 with a minimum of 18 in writing
- Cambridge English Scale Score 169 with 162 in all areas
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) 50 with 42 in all areas
