Torrens University Australia Whole-of-Organisation Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan and Outcomes Framework

Torrens University is committed to providing a safe, respectful and supportive environment for every member of our community. In line with this commitment, we have implemented the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence 2025, which came into effect on 1 January 2026.

To meet the requirements of the Code, Torrens has developed a Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response Plan and Outcomes Framework, endorsed by our Governing Board and aligned with the Code’s seven mandatory Standards. This work strengthens our focus on prevention, early intervention and trauma-informed support across all learning, working and accommodation settings.

From January 2026, Torrens will also introduce Respect Matters, a new training program for staff and students designed to build understanding of gender based violence, consent, respectful relationships and bystander action.

Our goal is to ensure that every person at Torrens feels safe, valued and empowered — and that our approach reflects best practice, evidence and care.
