This one-year diploma turns a traditional gap year into something smarter. You’ll begin with hands-on hospitality training at Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS), then head overseas to work in a leading hotel.

It’s a gap year, reimagined – combining study, travel and real experience. You’ll earn a nationally recognised Business qualification and build skills that open doors to university, a career or more time abroad.

What does a BMIHMS gap year look like, and how does it work?

Delivered in partnership with industry leaders, this Diploma of Business (International Hotel Management) is split into 3 immersive blocks.

Live and learn in Leura (3 months)

Start your year at our Leura campus in the Blue Mountains. You’ll live and train in a simulated hotel environment, learning how hotels operate and building confidence through hands-on experience.

Continue your training in Sydney (3 months)

Continue your training at the Surry Hills campus, where you’ll start building leadership and business skills that make hotels run.

Take off overseas (Up to 6 months and beyond)

Finish your year with an international placement at a world-class hotel. Our team will help you find the right destination and prepare for interviews.*
