Yes, online and on-campus qualifications have identical academic standings. You study the same subjects, complete the same assessments and graduate with the same accredited degree, recognised by employers across Australia. The difference is how you attend. You can join classes from any device and reach your course content whenever it suits you (24/7). Online study is a good fit for working professionals, parents and anyone living outside Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

What is online university study?Online university study lets you complete an accredited degree remotely, without attending a physical campus. At Torrens University Australia, you join live classes online and connect with learning facilitators and classmates in real time. The qualification is identical to a qualification completed on-campus, is TEQSA-accredited, and recognised by employers across Australia.

What course can I study online?Many of our courses offer an online study mode (not all are available online). Explore our course pages to see if your preferred area of study is offered online.

How does online study work?When you study online, your week is built around live, facilitator-led classes that you join in real time with classmates and academics, from your desktop, mobile or tablet. Everything else runs through MyLearn. That's where you'll find your course content, class recordings and work through your modules, available any time of day. Each week is clearly mapped out, so you always know what to complete and when. Finishing all the required coursework is what earns you the accredited qualification, and you won't do it alone: Success Coaches, Brainfuse tutoring and counselling support are there throughout.

What is the difference between online and blended study?Online study is fully remote: you join every class digitally and complete all your coursework through MyLearn, with no need to attend a campus at all. Blended learning mixes that online flexibility with scheduled on-campus sessions at our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide campuses. It suits students who want to study mostly from home but still value some face-to-face time with learning facilitators and classmates.

Are online courses and degrees recognised in Australia?We are registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) as an Australian university, meaning we are authorised to accredit our courses and degrees, including those online.

Can I apply for FEE-HELP if I'm studying online?If you’re a domestic student and looking to study a course online at a diploma level or above (excluding English courses), you may be eligible for FEE-HELP. Find out if you're eligible on the Australian Government's Study Assist website.

Can I get Austudy or Youth Allowance for an online course?Only domestic students are eligible for Youth Allowance and Austudy*. You must be enrolled in an approved course full-time.
*We recommend you seek advice from Services Australia to determine whether you meet the eligibility criteria for Austudy and Youth Allowance. -
Can I study online if I'm an international student?International students must not enrol in more than one-third (33%) of online subjects over their course and must study at least one face-to-face subject each trimester. These are conditions of the Australian student visa, set by the government. If you're studying from outside Australia and don't hold a student visa, you can study online.

Can I study a bachelor's degree fully online in Australia?Yes, a number of our bachelor’s degrees can be completed fully online. Eligible domestic students may be able to use FEE-HELP to cover their tuition for courses in Business, Health, Design, Technology and Education. Check the individual course pages to confirm whether online delivery mode is available for the course that you’re after.
