Torrens University Campus in Town Hall, Sydney

Celebrating 10 years of education excellence

Our story

On 1 November 2013, the Torrens University Act was passed in South Australia, and Torrens University Australia became the first new university in Australia in 20 years.

In February 2014 in Adelaide, we officially opened our doors.

Ten years on, we have become Australia’s fastest growing university, with nine campuses across the country, 19 000+ students from 124+ countries, and the only university in Australia and New Zealand, and one of four globally, to be a Certified B Corporation.

In 2024, we celebrate our past and all who have contributed to our growth and success, and we look ahead to our future and the future of higher education, ready to continue our commitment to be bold and creative, be global, be good and to begin and end with people.

Celebrating Our Past, Present, and Future

As we wrap up our 10th-anniversary celebrations, we reflect on our incredible journey and the community that has made it all possible.

Celebrate with us as we honour the staff, students, alumni, partners, and supporters who have shaped Torrens University Australia’s story.

Our community

One of core values is to begin and end with people, and it is our people – our staff, students, alumni, our researchers and industry partners – who have made Torrens University Australia what it is today.
