Hailay Gesesew

Background

Associate Professor Dr Hailay Abrha Gesesew is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Principal Research Fellow at Torrens University Australia. He began his career as a clinician at a remote health centre in Ethiopia before moving into academia in 2009. His research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology – particularly HIV, STIs, conflict and health, migrant health and the social determinants of health. Hailay uses mixed-methods approaches to address complex global health challenges. He holds a PhD in Public Health, an MPH in Epidemiology and a BSc in Public Health, and is widely published across his areas of expertise.
