General Requirements

You are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Commerce as long as you meet the University’s minimum entry requirements. Each application will be assessed on a case by case basis. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • An Australian secondary education qualification, or equivalent
  • A completed or partly completed qualification at AQF level 6 (associate degree) or above
  • A completed Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification at AQF Level 4 (Certificate IV) or above
  • A Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) percentile rank or equivalent.

Torrens University Australia also sets guaranteed entry thresholds for students who have:

  • ATAR 60 or equivalent
  • Studied at another university with a GPA of 3.5 in a scale of 7
  • A Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) rank of 155

If you meet at least one of these criteria you will not have to compete for a place in the Bachelor of Commerce. Your place is guaranteed.

Applicants to the doctoral program are expected to satisfy the following academic criteria:

  • Possession of a Master’s degree by thesis or dissertation appropriate to the professional field of the applicant; or
  • Possession of a Master’s degree by coursework appropriate to the professional field of the applicant completed at a superior standard; or
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree with Honours (typically 1st Class or Class 2A Honours level or equivalent); or
  • In exceptional circumstances, an equivalent academic background that is considered by the Dean of the School to be an appropriate preparation for independent study and research work at doctoral level.

An applicant may be required to satisfy the Dean of the School of the ability to understand and communicate in both written and spoken English at a level adequate for the purpose of pursuing doctoral level research. To proceed to stage 2 the candidate will need to present a Critique proposal that satisfies their Review Panel.

In addition to the academic criteria listed above, applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional leadership practice experience to be admitted to the course.

Torrens may accept an applicant who does not meet these requirements if it is satisfied that the applicant’s experience in research demonstrates that they have the capacity to pursue the course successfully.

Acceptance into a research program at the University is contingent on the applicant’s proposed field of study and research being acceptable to the University and able to be appropriately supervised and resourced.

This course is available for international offshore students wishing to study fully online.

General Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or over when starting a Masters’ degree, Graduate Certificate or Diploma.
  • Must have completed a bachelor degree as recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF 7).
  • Applicants with 3 years management / supervisory experience can also enter the Masters’ degree by successfully completing the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma.
  • Original certified copies of all qualifications must be provided (including the original language and translated document if English is not the applicants first language).

Applicants to the doctoral program are expected to satisfy the following academic criteria:

  • Possession of a Master’s degree by thesis or dissertation appropriate to the professional field of the applicant; or
  • Possession of a Master’s degree by coursework appropriate to the professional field of the applicant completed at a superior standard; or
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree with Honours (typically 1st Class or Class 2A Honours level or equivalent); or
  • In exceptional circumstances, an equivalent academic background that is considered by the Dean of the School to be an appropriate preparation for independent study and research work at doctoral level.

An applicant may be required to satisfy the Dean of the School of the ability to understand and communicate in both written and spoken English at a level adequate for the purpose of pursuing doctoral level research. To proceed to stage 2 the candidate will need to present a Critique proposal that satisfies their Review Panel.

In addition to the academic criteria listed above, applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional leadership practice experience to be admitted to the course.

Higher Degrees by Research

1. Academic Entry Requirements

To enter this qualification, you will need to meet the following entry requirements which are set by the Australian Government.

General Requirements

Awarded from Torrens University Australia or other approved institution:

  • A Master’s degree either by research or by coursework with a substantial element of research work, or
  • A relevant first or second class Honours degree

Torrens may accept an applicant who does not meet these requirements if it is satisfied that the applicant’s experience in research demonstrates that they have the capacity to pursue the course successfully.

Acceptance into a research program at the University is contingent on the applicant’s proposed field of study and research being acceptable to the University and able to be appropriately supervised and resourced.

1. Academic Entry Requirements

To enter this qualification, you will need to meet the following entry requirements which are set by the Australian Government.

General Requirements

Year 12 or equivalent with ATAR 50 Applicants are eligible to be considered for a place in a Torrens University Australia undergraduate program if they have one of the following:

  • A completed higher education qualification at AQF level 5 (diploma) or above, or equivalent, from an Australian University or another accredited higher education provider
  • Successful completion of at least 1 EFTSL (equivalent full time student load, or one full year) of an AQF level 6 (Associate Degree) or above, or equivalent, from an Australian University or another accredited higher education provider
  • A completed vocational education qualification at AQF level 4 (Certificate IV) or above, or equivalent, from a registered training organisation (RTO)
