10 reasons to come to Open Day

University Open Day May 2019

Our Open Day is on Saturday 11 May 2019 in Sydney and Melbourne and Virtual Open Day is on Monday, 20 May 2019.

Don’t miss your chance to learn more about courses in Creative Technology, Hospitality, Design, Education, Business, and Health. This is a perfect opportunity to ask questions, understand course requirements and get a real feel for the environment you’ll be learning in.

1. Get advice

Can’t figure out what to do with your life? We get it, we’ve been there too. This is why we’ve got our Course and Career advisors onsite to give you one on one advice. They will listen to what you’re passionate about and provide suggestions on the course that’s right for you.

2. Get a free goody bag

You will be greeted by our warm and energetic staff who will give you a few gifts to take home with you. I mean, who doesn’t love free things?!

3. Participate in ‘Love What You Do’ sessions

Take part in our Love What You Do sessions to hear from our current students and academics about what it is like to study at Torrens and land a career you love.

“Open Day is the best opportunity to experience the campus firsthand and ask all your questions about the course you’re interested in. It’s a chance to get inspired by past student work and get a glimpse of what student life at Torrens is like.”

4. Strengths workshop with a Success Coach

We believe that every person is born with a set of strengths and our job as an education provider is to help our students capitalize on what they are naturally good at. Our Success Coaches will support you by discovering your own unique strengths and professional capabilities to help get where you want to go.

5. Meet your future teachers

Connect and ask all the questions you want to know. You’ll also get the opportunity to chat with current students and get a better idea of what university life feels like.

“I was nervous to attend Open Day not knowing anyone there but everyone made me feel really welcome right away. I love that you can talk face-to-face with students and sit in on info sessions hosted by the Academics.”
Madison Browne, Event Management student

6. Learn about our Success Coaches

At Torrens, each student has a dedicated Success Coach who works with you to make sure you get the most out of your education and are working towards your dreams. This Open Day, you have the chance to meet with Success Coaches from across the University to find out how their support can help you.

7. Find out about Scholarships

Did you know you could be eligible for a Scholarship? We offer scholarships in each of our faculties: Design, Education, Health, Hospitality, Business and International. Come by and talk to our advisors about what options suit you. If you never try, you’ll never get it. Might as well apply and see what happens!

8. Meet Industry stars & learn their tips

Learn the art of making mocktails lead by our Executive Chef Jason Hannah from William Blue Dining and get the inside scoop in all things hospitality. You will also get to meet our in-house student agency, Billy Blue Studio. Just like any other marketing agency, you can design and manage campaigns for ‘real world’ organisations. Learn about and see the exciting projects you could be a part of if your study with Torrens University Australia. (This is available in Sydney only)

“I felt such a warm welcome from everyone, and there was a lot of excitement on campus. It was at that point I knew that William Blue was the place for me.”
Lauren Coulter, Hospitality Management student

9. Make new friends

Our Ultimo and Flinders Street campuses come to life with activities in Design and Creative Technology, Health, Business, and Hospitality. There will be lots of people around and, who knows, maybe they will be your future classmate!

“It’s so important to see and feel where you’re going to study. When I was first shown around the school, I knew straight away that this was where I wanted to study. It has a certain vibe which is really different from other places that offer similar courses”
Karla Rawles, Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy)

10. Network with people in your industry

Our Alumni and Industry will show you how they got where they are today. Be prepared to be inspired (and take notes on their pro-tips!)
