Day in the Life of an International Student competition winners announced

International Student competition winners

We're excited to announce the winners for Day in the Life of an International Student video competition.

This year Torrens University Australia held a nationwide film competition. All enrolled international students were welcome to apply and the rules were simple: show us what a day in your life as an international student looks like. The shift to hybrid learning has meant that the student experience has changed over the last year, so it was a good opportunity for us to reconnect with our students and see the world from their point of view.

We followed along as students woke up in the morning, cooked delicious meals, attended classes, and showed us the various elements of their daily life. Some students chose to show us their friends, others chose to highlight the amazing cities they live in, and all students gave us an insight into what it is that they love about studying at Torrens University Australia.

The panel of judges had so much fun watching these video submissions and the competition was incredibly strong. We are happy to announce Navjot Singh (Brisbane), Jed Magat (Adelaide) and Elizabeth Schlemmer (Sydney) will be taking home the top prize of a $500 visa gift card each. Congratulations to our winners. You can check out their winning entries below.

Navjot Singh from India

Here you will be able to access Navjot’s view on Brisbane. Navjot is one of our business students, originally from India. In his video you will be able to see the space that he calls home in Australia, and he takes you on a tour of Brisbane city and tells you all about his life in Queensland.

Jed Magat from Philippines

Jed from the Philippines took to displaying her life a little differently with the title screens used as a chance to teach us about her culture and language, it was so wonderful to see one of our Think students – studying a Diploma of Nursing - taking part in this competition.

Elizabeth Schlemmer from Guatemala/Germany

Elizabeth’s video is a bright warm welcome into her life. Ely starts by telling us she is from Guatemala and from the first moment to the last of her video we are wowed with her city views, introduced to her friends, shown where she works. She really let us know what it is like to be an international student living in Sydney and studying with Torrens University Australia.
