Silvia’s responsibilities involved meticulous image sourcing for social media. Briefed on a particular topic, she’d search past issues and other resources to be used for their online presence.

Silvia’s experience at the magazine extended beyond briefs and tasks, as she had the privilege of learning from industry professionals, including Deputy Editor Virginia Jen and Art Director Sandy Dao. “Virginia, Sandy and the team were very approachable, friendly and willing to take the time to answer my questions,” says Silvia. “They gave me guidance and professional advice.”

Moreover, the internship also taught Silvia the value of exploring diverse fields and varied work experiences. “I believe it’s important to be exposed to a variety of fields and kinds of work. Being open to learning and actively doing so ultimately makes you a more competent individual.”

Why an internship with industry giants is important

Internships of this calibre provide firsthand industry insights, a chance to learn from the best and opportunities to forge invaluable connections. Experiences like this have the capacity to propel the careers of budding professionals like Silvia to new heights.
