Darryn Melrose
General Manager, Design and Creative Technology
Darryn joined Torrens University as General Manager Design and Creative Technology in January 2021, having previously served as GM Design and Creative Technology for Torrens University from 2016 - 2019 and Chief Executive of Media Design School (MDS) from 2013 – 2019. MDS is Torren University’s sister institution in New Zealand. Darryn has a strong background in the tertiary education sector in Australia, New Zealand and globally, previously serving as CEO of Whitecliffe College of Arts Design, Fashion and Technology and as a Board Director for Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Outside of education, his breadth of experience spans financial services, FMCG, retail, marketing, telecommunications, and digital sectors. His accomplishments include founding the Digital Leadership Group, elevating AIM Proximity as the second best direct/digital marketing agency in the world in 2009, and leading the world’s first entry by a bank into the energy and telecommunications retail markets. He was also the creator and leader of GlobalPlus, the triple-alliance of Air New Zealand, Bank of New Zealand and Telecom.

Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside
Executive Dean, Design and Creative Technology
Scott has more than 20 years of academic experience, leading various programs, schools and faculties across Europe, Asia and Australia. Trained as an industrial designer, he moved into design management and later acquired a master's degree and PhD in design leaderships. Scott is a strong advocate for internationalisation, industry-engaged teaching, high-quality student outcomes and interdisciplinary research, and brings those passions to his role at Torrens University. Scott's own research interests intersect the disciplines of design education, higher education policy, design strategy and innovation.

Robyn Latimer, OAM
Associate Dean, Design and Creative Technology
In her 25-year design career, Robyn has owned a studio, directed a company and led countless community projects. Having worked in magazines and advertising, she specialised in publishing before progressing to education, which was a natural fit. She advocates for equity of access to lifelong learning and online education. In 2010, Robyn received a NSW Volunteer of the Year Award, and in 2018, an Order of Australia Medal.

Mark O’Dwyer
Program Director
Joining Billy Blue in 2007, Mark specialises in design thinking, business and Common Core. Mark believes in the power that design thinking has to transform out-moded business models and is constantly expanding the role design entrepreneurship plays within the community at Billy Blue. Former creative director at renowned design and branding agencies including Enterprise IG, Armstrong Miller & McLaren and The Ball Group, Mark has over 20 years’ industry experience directing brand strategy and identity projects from corporate to retail across both print and digital. Mark is a member of the Design Management Institute and has received multiple Australian National Print Awards since 2004.
