Background

Dr Anita Manfreda is an Associate Professor at Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) at Torrens University Australia, where she co-leads the Tourism and Hospitality Research and Practice (THRP) Cluster. A member of the Centre for Organisational Change and Agility, her research explores luxury tourism and hospitality, with a focus on sustainability, inclusive workforce practices and women’s leadership in the sector. Anita is widely recognised for award-winning research examining how luxury, sustainability and transformation intersect in contemporary hospitality, and how these shifts shape workforce capability and industry practice. Beyond academia, she advises luxury operators, hotel groups and frontline staff on designing meaningful guest experiences grounded in authenticity and community impact. She holds a degree in Cultural Tourism and a PhD in Service Marketing and Management, serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education, is a South Australia Tourism Award state judge, and is a member of the Tourism Industry Council South Australia.
