Catheryn Khoo

Background

Professor Catheryn Khoo is a Research Professor at Torrens University Australia within the Centre for Organisational Change and Agility. She holds a PhD and is ranked in the world’s top 1% of scientists for leisure and tourism. A globally recognised scholar specialising in women and gender in tourism, her research has informed governments, not-for-profits, tourism businesses and the United Nations Tourism. She led the authorship of the UNWTO Regional Report on Women in Tourism and co-authored the 2019 UNWTO Global Report on Women in Tourism. Catheryn is Editor-in-Chief of Tourism Management Perspectives. She has also co-edited the Women and Travel book, and the Perspectives on Asian Tourism book series. She spearheads Contested HERitage, a global initiative reshaping public narratives that have historically centred men’s names and accomplishments, while championing inclusivity through the transformation of memorials and place names. Her work spans more than 100 international publications, and she is a sought-after voice in global media on gender equity, tourism leadership and the future of travel.
