The International Design Awards (IDA) exists to recognise, celebrate and promote exceptional design visionaries and works to uncover emerging talent and acknowledge the evolution of the design industry across architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion design disciplines.
Members of the selected professional jury committee evaluate each work based on its merit assigning it a score.
Alicia’s award-winning works at the International Design Awards
Alicia’s winning student design work included Selo, Cowra Railway Precinct and Objekts.
Selo design concepts garnered two Bronze awards for Print / Logos, Trademarks and Symbols Design, Gold in Multimedia / Brand Identity.
Cowra Railway Precinct was awarded two Silver awards for Print / Signs, Exhibits and POP, and Print / Wayfinding & Environmental Graphics.
Objekts received a Bronze in Multimedia / Brand Identity.
2023 IDA award winner’s success in Australia
Alicia's success at the IDA Awards serves as a testament to the quality of education and support on offer at Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University. The school beyond the traditional classroom setting, emphasising a dedication to nurturing creative excellence and empowering students to reach the highest design benchmarks.

The prestigious accolade elevates Alicia's profile and brings well-deserved recognition to Torrens University on the global design stage.
“This achievement highlights the global resonance of our curriculum, demonstrating that the skills and creativity cultivated within our programs are not only relevant but stand out on the international stage,” said Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside, Executive Dean of Design and Creative Technology at Torrens University.

I’m immensely grateful to Billy Blue for providing the nurturing environment, invaluable mentorship and cutting-edge resources that have empowered me to reach new heights in my design journey. Cheri Flewell-Smith, Senior Learning Facilitator at Torrens University, acknowledge the accolades demonstrate the school’s commitment to nurturing creative excellence, and empowering students to meet the very highest of design benchmarks.

“Alicia is an impressive example of the transformation that comes from diving into all of the extra resources we offer here at Torrens University,” adds Cheri. “This recognition highlights how our curriculum extends beyond the classroom and resonates on the international stage.” Alicia also excelled at the 2023 AGDA Awards in the Student Brand and Identity and Student Spatial categories, and Billy Blue students received 1 Distinction, 5 Merits and 24 Finalist spots. Alicia is now a Junior Designer with Frost* Collective, one of Billy Blue’s major industry partners.
