To celebrate our new course, we were joined by Vogue Australia’s Fashion Features Director Alice Birrell, The Iconic’s Head of Own Brand Jalda Azad and Assistant Buyer Amelia Lee, who’s also one of our very own fashion graduates. These industry experts reviewed our Branded Fashion Design students’ collections through the lens of production, marketing and merchandising. They offered invaluable insights into the realities of the fashion industry and how they see it evolving.
Sustainability within the fashion industry has become a big topic with consumers selecting brands based off their sustainable clothing. Alice Birrell from Vogue Australia touched on this, "If you're not thinking kind of circular then there's not much of a future... we're obviously using raw resources at a rate this is not sustainable. So designers that are thinking in that way and sourcing fabric from dead stock and that are already out there is probably going to be the norm... our readers care about it so much and they're very well versed in everything sustainable as they will ask those questions and as designer you kind of have to have the answer."
