Naturopathy program inspires incredible dedication from student

Rah Cochellero

Rah Cechellero is a finalist for the Student of the Year at the Natural Medicine Awards 2023. As a third-year student in the Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy), Rah's journey is an inspiration for us all.

The Bachelor of Naturopathy fosters a strong sense of responsibility to make a positive contribution to complementary medicine - Rah Cechellero travels twelve hours each week to attend the Practice Wellbeing Centre in Sydney as a part of her study requirements.

Let's delve into her experiences, inspirations, and future career plans.

Can you share your most inspiring experience while studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy)?

One of the most inspiring experiences I've had during my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) program has been the opportunity to connect with like-minded students who share a passion for advocating equitable healthcare and improved accessibility within our profession. Throughout my degree, I've had the privilege of interacting with a diverse group of students, all of whom are dedicated to the principles of naturopathy and its potential to enhance people's wellbeing. What truly inspires me is witnessing the collective dedication of my fellow students to ensuring that our profession evolves to be more inclusive and accessible. We've discussed innovative ways to reach underserved communities and promote holistic healthcare as a viable option for a broader demographic. This commitment to positive change has not only deepened my appreciation for naturopathy but has also instilled in me a sense of responsibility to contribute to this vital cause.

In essence, these connections have not only enriched my academic experience but have also reinforced my belief in the power of naturopathy to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. I'm excited about the opportunity to continue working with like-minded individuals to shape the future of our profession and create a more inclusive and accessible healthcare landscape for all.

What are your future career plans in Naturopathy after completion?

Upon completing additional study, my goal is to bring the knowledge and skills I've acquired back to my community. I am deeply passionate about educating and empowering women about their bodies and their health. This includes providing guidance and support for those seeking natural and holistic approaches to fertility care, as well as addressing women's health concerns comprehensively.

My aim is to bridge the gap in access to fertility services by establishing a practice in my region that specialises in naturopathic approaches to reproductive health. By offering evidence-based, personalised care, I hope to empower women with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health.

We wish Rah Cechellero all the best for her future endeavours.

The Natural Medicine Awards select 12 finalists from the natural therapies sector including Student of the Year. The winner will be announced on Friday 10 November 2023.
