Genevieve “Genna” Rufus is tenacious, determined, kind, and is always focused on work and learning. She has fully embraced the opportunities afforded to her through Impact21. Dubbed “The Generator”, Genna sets her mind to tasks and aims to achieve high quality in as efficient a timeframe as possible. Having landed a position with Sodexo in Melbourne’s PwC location, Genna has taken to the task with such gusto, aiming to be as focused and diligent as possible in all of her tasks. She is a people person, loves the opportunity to make a speech or show gratitude for her colleagues and friends, and is as professional as she is social. Genna is an asset to any team.

Impact21 is a tertiary education and employment course for employers and people living with an intellectual disability. It aims to break the cycle of unemployment to create diverse, sustainable and meaningful workplaces throughout Australia.

Founded by e.motion21 and supported by academic researchers including Torren s University, Impact21 has been co-designed with students with Down syndrome, employers, families, educators and disability service providers. Together we are disrupting unsuccessful models of disability education and employment through a ground breaking model that leads to guaranteed jobs.

Current national employer partners PwCSodexoDeakin UniversityJB Hi-Fi and DuluxGroup, DES partner CVGT and 12 courageous students have successfully completed the 12 month Discovery, Work Experience and Internship modules that lead to customised employment. Our graduates start work in 2020 – watch this space!
