What is Sports Management?

Sports Management applies business skills, such as budgeting, scheduling, organisation and people management, to the field of competitive sport. Darren is an experienced senior director who worked in the sport industry before moving to education.
A former General Manager of Education for Surf Lifesaving Australia, Darren also served as CEO of Rowing Australia and was part of the Australian Paralympic Committee. Skilled in strategic planning, coaching and management, Darren delights in helping students and staff to reach greater heights.

Darren Adamson
Senior Lecturer – Sports Management

Darren has worked in sport, education and the not-for-profit sector for more than 25 years, including nine years at the Port Adelaide Football Club (AFL) where he created the social enterprise Power Community Ltd. Darren is completing his PhD on corporate social responsibility at professional sport teams and is a life member of his local football club.
