Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside | Staff

Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside
Executive Dean, Design and Creative Technology


Scott has more than 20 years of academic experience, leading various programs, schools and faculties across Europe, Asia and Australia.
Trained as an industrial designer, he moved into design management and later acquired a master's degree and PhD in design leaderships. Scott is a strong advocate for internationalisation, industry-engaged teaching, high-quality student outcomes and interdisciplinary research, and brings those passions to his role at Torrens University. Scott's own research interests intersect the disciplines of design education, higher education policy, design strategy and innovation.

Associate Professor Tony Jan
Program Director, Technology


Tony holds a PhD in machine learning in network security and a bachelor’s in computer engineering, and has been responsible for the accreditation of prominent IT education
programs across Australia. With more than 20 years of senior academic leadership experience in the Australian university sector, Tony is a certified senior member of the Australian Computer Society and the ACS accreditation review board. He serves as associate editor for a number of journals and has published more than 60 articles and conference proceedings related to AI, cybersecurity and industry 4.0, supported by a number of ARC Discovery Projects and industry-sponsored research projects.
