In acknowledgment of their contributions to the fields of biomedical engineering and artificial intelligence, two faculty members from Torrens University have been recognised among the top 2% of researchers worldwide, according to the 2023 Stanford University (Elsevier) rankings.
Dr. Ganesh Naik, a senior lecturer at Torrens University, has earned this distinction for his innovative work in biomedical engineering. His research, which spans critical areas such as computer vision and image processing, continues to push the boundaries of how technology can be used to improve human health and well-being.

Dr. Kamran Shaukat, an emerging researcher and lecturer in artificial intelligence, recently joined the Torrens University information technology team and has quickly made his mark in the field. His work particularly focuses on areas that serve as the foundation for generative AI and technologies like ChatGPT. His expertise in natural language processing is driving forward innovations that are set to reshape industries.

Both Dr. Naik and Dr. Shaukat are members of Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Optimisation (AIRO) and contribute significantly to the Master of Software Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) program, along with other Information Technology (IT) courses offered at Torrens University. Their research and teaching efforts, particularly in cutting-edge fields like computer vision, image processing, and natural language processing, are crucial in preparing students to excel in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
