The Diploma of Applied Management builds practical management skills to prepare you for a career in business. Alongside core studies in critical thinking and leadership, four electives let you tailor the course to your career goals. A final workplace capstone applies what you’ve learnt to a real leadership or management challenge.

Combining theoretical and technical knowledge with practical application, the course develops critical thinking, leadership and decision-making capabilities that can be applied to contemporary workplace challenges. You’ll learn to analyse information, approach problems with greater confidence and apply professional knowledge and skills to support effective business outcomes.

Subjects and units

Delivered both on campus and online, the Diploma of Applied Management comprises of 3 core and 5 electives, each subject requiring 10 hours of study per week (made up of classes and self-directed study). Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.

Admission criteria

Before you begin your application to study as a domestic student, check that you meet at least one of the requirements listed below.

Successful completion of at least 0.5 EFTSL (equivalent full-time student load) at AQF Level 5 (Diploma), or equivalent

OR

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF Level 6 (Associate Degree) or above, or equivalent.

OR

Successful completion of a vocational qualification at AQF Level 4 (Certificate IV) or above, or equivalent;

OR

Successful completion of at least 1 EFTSL at AQF Level 5 (Diploma) or above, or equivalent.

OR

Applicants with relevant work or life experience may be eligible where they are nominated by their employer. Eligibility will be reviewed jointly by Torrens University Australia and the organisational program sponsor.
