Senior Learning Facilitator

From Silicon Valley to Fortitude Valley, Alasdair’s diverse career combines a PhD in organic chemistry and automation with a master’s in international business. Spanning biotechnology, aged care, disability and education, he brings more than 20 years of global management experience to his role.

Sarah Smart

Learning Facilitator

Sarah is an experienced Business lecturer, specialising in industry skills and marketing. Having run a successful digital communication consulting firm, she is passionate about sharing her insights with students, weaving theory and practical application into her courses.

Martin Harasak

Learning Facilitator

For 15 years, Martin has combined his roles as an organisational development and sports management professional with education. He consults across government, private and not-for-profit sectors, and conducts research on organisational development and employee engagement.

Gaye Steel

Learning Facilitator

Specialising in strategic marketing, Gaye is a senior executive with more than 25 years of data-driven marketing experience across FMCG, retail, franchise and telco sectors. A leader in her field, she’s held key management roles at prominent organisations such as McDonald’s, Reckitt Benckiser and Telstra.

Darren Peters

Program Director

Darren Peters is a Program Director for Business and Hospitality at Torrens University Australia. Passionate about personal and organisational innovation and growth, action plus academic research has focused on leadership, coaching, passions, wellbeing, and human locomotion. Prior experience has been gained as Director (Australian Institute of Sport Management, Australian Paralympic Committee), CEO or General Manager (Australian Paralympic Committee, Rowing Australia, Surf Lifesaving Australia), and Senior Management roles (Director, Campus Wellbeing and Engagement at Macquarie University), plus in customer service (Banking). Hobbies include sprint running and surfing.

Michelle Whitford

Associate Dean

Professor Michelle Whitford has over 20 years of experience leading innovative initiatives that prepare students for the workforce. An expert in Indigenous tourism and events, her work spans policy, sustainable development, and management. Michelle has led significant projects for organisations like the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre, the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Studies, Indigenous Business Australia and the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism and Tourism and Events Queensland, the National Environmental Science Program and numerous Australian Federal State and Local Government agencies. She serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Yugambeh Youth Aboriginal Corporation and co-leads the First Nations Tourism Council Research and Innovation Hub. In 2021, she received the QTIC Destination IQ, Pip and Charles Woodward Award.
