Business Environment | BMGTHD501This subject introduces you to the foundations of business. It is focused on providing fundamental business concepts and contexts to enrich your mastery in subsequent studies, while developing as reflective practitioners. You will examine the functional operations of businesses, projects and the internal and external environments in which they operate. This includes analysis of economic, social, political, legal, cultural, technological, environmental and ethical influences on contemporary businesses. You will also explore the viewpoints and influences of internal and external stakeholders.

This subject is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of marketing theories and the strategic application of marketing concepts in various contexts including profit and not-for- profit organisations and government. You will be equipped with the ability to formulate marketing strategy and the use of strategic marketing mix elements in developing and maintaining a market orientation. Assess organisational performance in relation to ethical and socially acceptable business practices and use strategic marketing to gain a competitive advantage.
Principles of Project Management | BPROHD600This course provides students with a grounding in the principles of project management, its methods and contemporary standards associated with managing diverse projects. Students in this course are introduced to the knowledge, tools, and techniques needed to manage projects (including IT projects) successfully throughout a project life cycle, and to the language used by practitioners in conjunction with the terminology recognised by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Students explore the project management knowledge areas and process groups of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) guide. Students also examine the ways these two dimensions of project management interact in initiating (scoping), planning, executing (launching), monitoring and controlling, and closing a project. The subject provides students with opportunities to also examine the challenges of project management and the professional traits that project managers are associated with.
Project Planning and Budgeting | PROJ6002To be effective, project managers must understand relationships between operational factors and projects. In this subject, students learn about scope, time and cost planning, developing an appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS). Students will also learn about the importance of managing project change, quality and risk, as well as the role of effective stakeholder communications in achieving successful project outcomes. They engage in practical exercises designed to help them develop project management skills. Students also examine planning considerations associated with global projects.
Employer Based Project | MGT606The Employer Based Project subject is a 4-unit postgraduate subject designed to facilitate work-integrated learning in the student’s current employment to be included in the volume of learning for the student’s currently enrolled program. Like any other subject, there is an expectation that the student will engage in 120 hours of active learning above and beyond their normal employment duties. This subject requires the student to undertake and document an original and new project that will be sponsored by and benefit the employer as well as demonstrably bridge the theoretical–praxis gap in the student’s knowledge. If approved, the student will be allocated an academic supervisor who will support the student in bridging knowledge and practice for the duration of the unit.
Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship | BMGTHD607This subject seeks to build the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to succeed as an ethical entrepreneur or entrepreneur. These knowledge and skills are then applied to identify and evaluate innovative high-growth product and service opportunities in the context of a start-up, a corporation, a not for profit or a government institution. The subject allows students to practice skills, including creativity, cash-flow modelling, business model analysis and lean experimentation. Students prepare a business plan for a new venture, or an improvement to an existing enterprise, enabling them to integrate their theoretical and practical knowledge.
Corporate Sustainability | BMGTHD613This subject is underpinned by notions that are measured by the triple bottom line: economic, social and environmental costs and benefits. The subject explores the competitive advantage to be gained through sustainable practices and requires students to develop a sustainability strategy for an organisation of their choice. This subject explores the issues of social justice and human rights more fundamentally than other subjects as sustainability issues for the future.
Agile Project Management | BPROHD608Progressing from traditional project management frameworks this subject focuses on Agile project management, Agile project management methodology, the principles of Agile, and Agile techniques. This subject will be based on a foundation of the 4 core values and 12 guiding principles of Agile as laid out by the agile manifesto. Students will develop an understanding of Agile concepts, tools and techniques: Scrum and Kanban, Roadmap planning, Program increments, Sprints and daily scrums and the Agile roles within teams. Some of the leading Agile frameworks will be discussed so that students have an understanding of some of the different philosophies, which support the Agile continuous delivery pipeline. Points of origin in Lean practice and the relationship between Agile and DevOps will also be covered to help students orient themselves in the broader emerging landscape of projects and software development landscape.

What are Torrens University Australia’s ATAR requirements for domestic students?
Torrens University Australia no longer considers ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) as our primary entry requirement. We have removed ATAR as the key admissions criteria for applicants aiming to study at Torrens University Australia. We strongly believed an alternative to the ATAR system should be found, which more broadly assesses students, especially when soft skills are emerging as important employability attributes. So, students with a recent secondary school education are now considered for admission if they have a Year 12 (Australian secondary school) certificate. Exceptions may apply to some courses.
What if I don’t meet the entry criteria for a degree?

Am I eligible for FEE-HELP?
If you are a domestic student attending university or an approved higher education provider, you can get a FEE-HELP loan to pay all or part of your tuition fees.
You are eligible for FEE-HELP assistance for a unit of study (i.e. subject) if you:
- Undertake study with an approved provider.
- Meet the citizenship and residency requirements:
- An Australian citizen or a New Zealand Special Category Visa holder who meets the long-term residency criteria and who will undertake, in Australia, at least one unit of study contributing to your course; OR
- A permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of your unit; OR
- Are a permanent visa holder who is undertaking bridging study for overseas-trained professionals, and will be a resident in Australia for the duration of the study.
- Enrolled in an eligible unit of study by the census date for the unit.
- Have not exceeded the FEE-HELP limit.

Can I get course credit for previous experience?
Yes, course credit is available for most courses upon application and academic approval (excluding Higher Degree by Research programs).
If you have already completed a qualification or have relevant work experience, you may be eligible for credit towards your course. What are Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)? How do I apply?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that recognises experience, previous study and qualifications, and other forms of informal and non-formal learning, to determine if you meet course requirements.
If you have relevant qualifications or experience, you may be eligible for credit towards your course and a reduction in tuition costs.
