What is a Master of Education (Advanced)?

The Master of Education (Advanced) provides the opportunity for existing teachers, education practitioners or other professionals to upskill, enhance research ability and develop proficiency in specific areas of education theory and practice.

The course includes a solid foundation in the research of inclusion, leadership and social justice, providing knowledge and skills that empower you to enact change in program, policy and project design.

Choose from three specialisation streams;

Leadership and Innovation

Through a leadership lens this course provides advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in identifying issues and opportunities in education. Student will engage in designing methods of responding to issues through practice, and understand the role of technology in contemporary learning settings. Whilst exploring a range of contemporary innovations and focusing on analysing and critiquing existing innovating approaches.

Inclusive Literacies

Through investigating and analysing contemporary literacy practices this course prepares education professionals to focus on critical issues in literacy including diagnosis and intervention. Additionally students will explore how to address reading literacy in a culturally and linguistically diverse context.

Inclusive Education

Through an inclusive lense this course has a strong focus on supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals and those with mental health conditions. A person-centred approach is used throughout this course to help introduce the skills required when supporting individuals with a range of additional learning needs. This course is informed by current evidence based research and pedagogy, and consultation with neurodivergent communities.

Admission criteria

Before you begin your application to study as a domestic student, check that you meet the requirements listed below.

AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above from an Australia University.

OR

An equivalent overseas higher education qualification.

The below is an alternative option.
Combination of formal (below AQF7) or non-formal qualifications and three yeas of relevant professional experience includes those who are currently working in education-related fields and teachers holding alternative qualifications.

Fee payment

Course fees can be paid across three study periods. Each instalment to be paid before the beginning of the academic stage census date.
