Introducing: Billy Blue’s 2020 Interior Design Ambassador, Sibella Court

Billy Blue College of Design has announced treasured Australian interior design icon, entrepreneur, and author, Sibella Court, as the institute’s 2020 Interior Design Ambassador. 

With over 25 years of experience under her belt, Sibella Court has established herself as a design leader in Australia and abroad. Her charming and distinctive style has made her one of the world’s most sought-after stylists and creative directors.

Billy Blue is excited to be working closely with Sibella and her company, The Society inc, to bring students valuable internship opportunities, scholarships, and privileged insider knowledge of the interior design industry.

Her keen interest in visual storytelling, passion for history and culture, and knack for collecting and curating things were strong foundations for her career in interior design. While earning a degree in history at university, Sibella embarked on an internship with Vogue which opened the door to working with Vogue Living and Vogue Entertainment & Travel. Soon after, she travelled the world with magazines and advertising agencies, using her talents as a stylist and New York as her home base for 10 years.

After that enthralling decade, Sibella moved back to sunny Australia to start The Society inc and publish her first book, Etcetera. With a wealth of various life and cultural experiences behind her, the company grew and new departments were established to cover many arms of interior design. 

Sibella is committed to approaching design sustainably, a feat made easier by a strong fascination with history and antiques that drives her to seek out, collect, and upcycle objects. Sibella’s design process is largely inspired by her ability to see beauty in aged materials and appreciate the richness they bring through their stories.

Sibella’s career achievements include six best-selling books, an ABC television show, an expanding product range, and a Rigg Design Prize. She attributes her drive to her desire to keep learning. She also draws on her passions when designing so it never feels like work.
