Celebrating International Students' Day 2023 with our students

International Students Day 2023

At Torrens University, we welcome students from over 115 different countries. Find out more about their traditions and cultural festivals from back home.

Every year, Torrens University Australia celebrates International Students’ Day alongside our exceptional international students to recognize and celebrate their dedication and hard work.

International Students’ Day is held annually on November 17 and provides the opportunity for our international students from diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate their multiculturalism. At Torrens University we welcome students from over 115 countries, with our student cohort exposed to many cultures and traditions.

This year we have collaborated with our international students and asked them about their favorite festivals from back home. Here are some of their responses:

Iri Ji Festival

Also known as the New Yam Festival, it is celebrated by the Igbo people throughout West Africa. It symbolizes the conclusion of a harvest and the beginning of the next work cycle.

Celebrating our diverse student culture

Cultural festivals are great opportunities to expand your perspective and create connections that can lead to lasting friendships. You can check out your local city website to find out more about festivals and events happening near you.

Torrens University aims to celebrate festivals from all over the world and you can find out more about our latest campus events on the Student Hub. We aim to encourage cultural exchange to help students adapt to life in Australia and share their experiences with others, fostering skills to help in their personal and professional development.

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is formed with students from all walks of life and is continuously organizing new events to celebrate our different student cultural backgrounds. These events act as a way for students to stay connected and build life-long friendships. Check out your cities SRC Instagram account to keep up to date on upcoming events and activities.

To all our international students, we thank you for your contribution to the Torrens University Australia community.
