Carlos Mejia Hernandez chose to study a Bachelor of Software Engineering in Artificial Intelligence due to recognising the pivotal role AI plays across various sectors. “I currently work as a Senior Digital Forensic Analyst in the Cyber & Incident Response Team at Forensics IT, and given this background, I saw the potential of AI to transform investigations, increase data accuracy and expedite case resolutions. The ever-evolving nature of AI also promises ongoing challenges and learning opportunities in the realm of digital forensics.”

Being bilingual will open doors for collaboration and this intersection of skills and experience can play a pivotal role in enhancing international collaborations, especially in addressing cross-border cyber issues.”

With his own advice in mind, we asked Carlos where he sees himself in 10 years, “I envision myself in a leadership position, overseeing a specialised digital forensic department or consultancy that leverages Artificial Intelligence for innovative forensic methods. I anticipate forming partnerships with international law enforcement bodies or technology bodies to drive the evolution of forensic tools. I hope to shape future graduates through mentoring and contributing in academic areas of research or teaching.”
