Torrens University Australia was ranked #1 nationally for Skills Development among postgraduate students, with a record-high satisfaction score of 87% - a 2-point increase from the previous year and 5 points above the national average.
Torrens University’s postgraduate students rated their experience among the best in the country according to the results of the QILT SES, which is the only comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia.
CEO Dan Cockerell said “achieving the top national ranking for postgraduate skills development reflects our commitment to employability-focused education - giving professionals the practical capabilities and confidence they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving workforce.
“We are a university that is built for real-life, so it’s pleasing that our students rate us highly for skills development.”
Postgraduate students also rated Torrens University among the top performers for Peer Engagement, which rose by 8 percentage points to 74%, placing the university in the Top 3 nationally.
Torrens University climbed into the Top 10 for Teaching Quality and Student Support, outperforming national trends. Satisfaction with the overall Quality of Educational Experience remained stable, lifting the ranking from 18th to 11th while the sector average declined.
Postgraduate study area highlights
Study Area results are based on two-year rolling averages consistent with QILT report.
- Business & Management: Narrowed the gap for Quality of Educational Experience with the national average from 4 to 2 points. Ranked in the Top 9 for Skills Development.
- Computing & Information Systems: Raised by 4 percentage points to 80% satisfaction for Quality of Educational Experience, moving from Top 7 to Top 5. Ranked in the Top 5 across most focus areas.
- Health Services & Support: Reached an exceptional 89% satisfaction, 9 percentage points above the sector average. Ranked Top 5 overall, including #1 for Peer Engagement.
- Teacher Education: Outperformed the national average by nearly 10 points. Ranked Top 4 for Quality of Educational Experience, #1 for Skills Development and #3 for Teaching Quality and Student Support & Services.

- Social Work (Counselling & Community Services): Top 5 across all dimensions; #1 for Student Support
- Architecture: Top 3 for Educational Experience and Teaching Quality; 6 points above sector average
- Health Services & Support: +2 points YoY; above national average and up one rank
- Business & Management: 6 points above average; Top 10 for Educational Experience, Top 6 for Teaching Quality
- Creative Arts: Above national average for Educational Experience; Top 9 for Student Support>
- Computing & Information Systems: Improved ranking despite a 3-point drop in Educational Experience
