What is a Diploma of Media Production?

The Diploma of Media Production is your entry point into the world of storytelling, media, digital and content production. Designed to be hands-on and career-focused, it will build the foundational skills you can take straight into the workforce or use as a pathway into a bachelor’s degree.

Aligned with today’s media landscape, this practical course explores a broad range of media and content disciplines. You will develop an understanding of media studies, learn the fundamentals of content creation, build practical skills in motion design, learn the ins and outs of professional media practice, and more.

Subjects and units

Delivered both on campus and online, this course comprises of six core subjects and two elective subjects, each subject requiring 10 hours of study per week; three hours facilitated and seven self-directed. Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.

Admission criteria

Before you begin your course application, check that you meet at least one of the requirements listed below.

Year 12 (Australian secondary school certificate) or equivalent

OR

Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above

OR

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent

OR

Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment.

If you have already completed a qualification or gained skills through life or work experience, you may be able to credit this against your degree with us.
